From “Dracula” to “Frankenstein” to the complete works of Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King, spooky books for adults abound. However, it is somewhat challenging to find books that are set on Halloween itself. The three classic books below are not only spooky, but they also take place during the Halloween season. Reading any one of them will surely get you into the Halloween spirit.
“Something Wicked This Way Comes” by Ray Bradbury

Run by the mysterious Mr. Dark, the carnival promises to grant wishes, but these wishes come with chilling consequences.
“Hallowe’en Party” by Agatha Christie
This is one of Christie’s famous Hercule Poirot mysteries. The story revolves around the case of a difficult young girl who claims to have witnessed a murder. No one believes the tale until the girl is herself found murdered during a Halloween party. Poirot is called in to unravel the troubling case.
“Pet Sematary” by Stephen King
Only partially set on Halloween, this King classic tells the story of the Creed family. After a move to a small town, the family loses a beloved pet. Unfortunately, by burying the cat, they unleash terrifying forces.
